Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Feeling lucky

It was certainly a lucky shot to have been able to get this little female Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker.  Note the vast difference between the male and female bird.
The female is primarily of greenish shades, has some red feathers on its back near the tail which unfortunately is unseen in this pic, compared to the brilliant scarlet streak on the male's bluish-black back.
