Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Drying for Bulbuls

It is quite fascinating to watch how birds fluff and preen to get dry.  This pair of Stripe-throated Bulbuls might be a bit too far for sharper images yet it's not difficult to observe how the birds fluff right down to their fine feathers to ensure they got dry.
First, it was the usual drying of tail, and it also looked like the birds took turns to dry, or was the other one on a watch-out.

Then the other one started its drying routine.  The fine feathers emerged after the outer ones were preened.

This one seemed to fluff its face feathers too!

Then the left one did some preening for its mate.

Then both fluffed entire body feathers momentarily before they flew off.
