Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Buah rukam

It came as a pleasant surprise when I learnt that what I thought were wild fruits actually turned out to be 'buah rukam', a kind of edible sour fruit.  It's the fruiting season now and one tree in particular is covered with gorgeous unripe and ripe fruits ranging from orangey to reddish purple fruits.  And the red Weaver ants seem to have taken on the role of guardian to these fruits for these ants are all over the tree.
This part of the taman is certainly attractive for it is planted with two rows of these trees, again kudos to the taman designer who had dotted the taman with numerous attractive fruiting trees for both man and creatures.
