Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

The other beautiful Koel

The female Asian Koel is truly beautiful, so so different from its male.  So it's still a thrill to go after it when it's spotted.

This image still has me puzzled trying to figure out the folds in its wing.

But the following ones do suggest why this bird is captivating.

The shade enhances best the bird's stunning feathers, so I'm glad to have got it even if it's from less than ideal position.

And looks like this shot has violated the bird's privacy!

Another view that displays its attractive plumage.

And this image at best shows the only time the bird goes for a fruit after hopping from tree to tree, and it's also the only bird around that goes for this bigger fruit.

And just for record, now compare a couple of images of the male Koel, from old stock.
