It's the end of April and I was surprised to encounter still these two avian migrants at a lower area of the bukit, far from their usual or territorial foraging areas, raising an interesting question:
- it has been more than 2 weeks since the Dark-sided Flycatcher was no longer sighted at its usual perch so I had concluded that it had returned home, and now to encounter it again (being pretty sure that it was the same one), so was this one a straggler? Or must every breeding migrant flycatcher return home, or could it be like a juvy oriental honey buzzard that is known to miss its passage home in the current season only to return home the next season?
- the same applies to this Arctic Warbler that's still around too.
I guess it's a record of sort as it's a first for me to sight still these avian migrants at this time of the season foraging in a mixed flock at an unexpected area of the the bukit.
