Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Lovely bulbul nevertheless

Familiarity does many a times lead to disregard, indifference.  And I was guilty of this when I saw this Red-eyed Bulbul (Pycnonotus brunneus) flew up, until it flew down as if in reprimand!

And it's not just a Red-eyed as someone used to comment!  It's the whole package lah, those warm shades of brown and those distinct red eyes.  And it's not so common now, as one would think that it's a guaranteed sighting when one walks by the forest edge or steps into the forest.

It does take a conscious effort to re-appreciate so-called common birds but it would be worth the pause to do so.
