Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A disappointing walk

Being away for more than a week, I came back eager to find out if the awful construction that had started in the taman had already had any effect on the bird life here.  It was a quick walk through the taman then on a late afternoon, and it was pretty dismal!  Even the usual sightings of common birds were few, the Blue-tailed Bee-eaters which should still be around were nowhere in sight, a pretty quiet taman indeed!
I managed to spot the Brown Shrike though, still very skittish, and kept very much to its haunt.

So here's going through some old images as a pick-me-up - shots of this Lineated Barbet were taken a couple of weeks ago, and it looked like a young bird which could be a good sign that there's a family here.
An adorable moment!

These Blue-tailed Bee-eaters were seen about the same time.
