Time and again I watched this pair of White-throated Kingfishers behaving like an old married couple, not amicable one moment, the next at peace, like nothing happened.
As usual one got something, and it looked like an earthworm, and definitely was not sharing. It was entertaining to watch the other one trying to approach as if asking for a share, and the other moving further apart, and eventually away alone to finish its catch.
Moments later, it seemed like the birds had made up, and now perched placidly together.
(On closer look, this pair may also be one of adult and a sub-adult. It's definitely very difficult to differentiate these kingfishers.)
