Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A welcome sight, Barbet

It was deja vue when a familiar call sounded and I spotted the Lineated Barbet.  Simply heartening that it was still around and it kept very much to where it was, as if waiting for another.

Then it looked like it had decided to rest, being very still at its perch.

Then this one flew in, and into its hole.

Sticking its head out, it started to look around, looking adorable as usual ....

... until it spotted me !  Looked like it's old enough now to try and intimidate!

And the birds must have their own secret signal because both suddenly decided to fly across to the feast on the palm fruits, and away thereafter.
