Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Juvy and adult feasting (I)

The ripe palm fruits provided an excellent background as I watched one bird after another fly in for the fruits.  This time it's the Lineated Barbets.
This juvy was the first one to fly down, true to character, looked hesitantly around, waited, then to its share.

Still looking hesitantly around even after it had alighted on the fruiting bunch before it dived in for the real thing.

It left as quickly and then unexpectedly the adult came in, and that's when I noticed that the older one was not feasting but actually gathering fruits, obviously unaware that the young one had come and gone.  It went on to collect the fruits in its bill before it flew off, and proceeded straight to the nest.
