Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Bee-eater playing catch

The Blue-tailed Bee-eaters have always been one of the last migrant birds to leave.  These birds are still actively seen in the taman, and it's always thrilling to have one fly right by you, scored its target insect with a smacking sound.  I almost never failed to say 'Bingo' when it happened!
It was double delight when this pair were seen busy sailing the air, after their catch.

An eye contact moment, always a joy when this happens.

The other one happily landed with its catch.

There's always the striking of the insect against the branch to knock  it off before it's swallowed whole, but this time the bird simply opened its bill and gulped it down.

A tiny insect like a dragonfly in this case could never be considered tiny for a relatively small bird like the Bee-eater as suggested by the little bulge in the throat as the bird down its catch.
