Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Capturing the Ibis's sheen

Every photographer would dream of shooting the Hadada Ibis at its iridescent best!  The bird by and large has a greyish brownish body but it's the iridescent purplish greenish sheen that makes all the difference in this bird.
This was the only window of opportunity to capture this bird and its gorgeous plumage as sunlight falls spot on on its feathers.

In contrast, and ironically the sheen is lost when the bird is seen in brighter light.

Just a couple of hours ago, this Ibis was making its presence known, flying about with its blaring calls, before it ventured down to perch for a considerable period of time and finally down to strut.  It pretty much dominated this part of the taman, and was caught even chasing off the sub-adult Brahminy Kite that had also flown down to drink.
