Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Chinese Pond Heron

It's so good to see the Pond Heron transform to breeding plumage that confirms it as Chinese Pond Heron.  Despite being in the taman for so many months already this bird is still very wary of human presence.  Most shots had to be taken from afar.
I thought the bird was preoccupied with its fat juicy catch but looked like it did sense me as it moved away quickly.

I attempted to move towards it stealthily, moving from behind lamp post and tree (lol) but was still spotted!

It instantly flew up a neighbouring tree and further in, to a taller one as I approached closer to it.

A couple of days later, a part of the taman was flooded and it was most thrilling when the Heron appeared, to offer striking photo opportunities.

Was spotted again too!
