Drawn by the sight of a small bird foraging in the upper canopy, I tried to zoom in and had to track the bird as it moved about, but a shade of yellow had me determined to establish its ID, and as I had guessed, it's a Yellow-rumped Flycatcher.
This was one of the earliest arrivals when first spotted in early September so either this is the same repeat visitor or perhaps these birds arrived in batches.
However, I could not spot it again even as I strolled all over the taman for it.
A striking bird indeed at about 13cm, the male has rich yellow under-parts (unfortunately its yellow rump was only partially visible), black upper-parts and long white wing patch and distinct white eyebrows. It is considered an uncommon migrant.
