Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A tree and its attraction

The remaining fruits on a tree in the taman continued to attract birds, among them the Yellow-rumped Flycatcher and the Asian Brown Flycatcher although these birds weren't going for the fruits.  It was not exactly easy to shoot the birds in view of the layers of twigs of this tree, coupled with the presence of squirrels that caused the birds to move about incessantly.

It's good to note that this Flycatcher has been around for a while already.

The other gorgeous birds were the Coppersmith Barbets, long time taman residents, and the only time that they would fly down this low to forage and feed.
