Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A Drongo, two; a Woodpecker, better than none

It was a dull afternoon until the Greater Racket-tailed Drongo flew in and started preening, and shortly after was joined by the Banded Woodpecker.  These two may be common and regular visitors to the taman but when one was dying for any sighting at all, these two were uplifting enough.
In fact the Drongos came as a pair but unfortunately perched too far apart.  As a matter of interest the following image also included the Woodpecker.

Yet again, less than ideal shots when one could only capture its back image.

The images of the Woodpecker were only slightly better.  One could only sigh and say that at least, one did not leave the taman 'empty-handed'!
