The firmiana malayana or mata lembu, remains here in testimony to man's care-less-ness - its tree had since been felled. Let not the birds leave too.

Playtime for bulbuls and oriole

Just a breezy afternoon and these birds were there to entertain.  The dillenia suffruticosa shrub with its large evergreen leaves and flowering bulbs was their foraging playground.
One need not even look hard enough, there are always little scenes like this one played out around the taman.  The resident birds have their daily squabbles and territorial claims, and their calls and shrieks make up the cacophony of noise, or music heard throughout, whichever depending on the human visitors to the taman!
On this occasion, the family of Yellow-vented Bulbuls first had their fun pecking off petals until they were chased off.

It was just a sub-adult Black-naped Oriole but it was enough for the Bulbuls to give away to this one.

It was a fine display of balancing act as the Oriole struggled on the slender flowering stalk against the warm afternoon breeze.

It was also an exhibit of stunning sunny plumage too.
