The firmiana malayana or mata lembu, remains here in testimony to man's care-less-ness - its tree had since been felled. Let not the birds leave too.

The Kingfisher's attempt

I have decided to feature the following images only after the nesting hole of the White-throated Kingfisher is no more; because of the daily heavy downpour, the hole is now submerged in pond water.
When I first noticed the Kingfisher scanning its surrounding, my cuirosity was piqued.

It was a pretty long wait as it looked like the Kingfisher was being watchful and careful as it continued to cast his sight all around.  Then it suddenly 'bulleted' into the hole!

Not quite though!

It was to do this over the next couple of minutes, flying in midway, dug, flew off and back and dug again.
Unfortunately, this would turn out to be a failed nesting, as the entire bank is not covered in water.
