Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A new Bittern visitor

I met a first time visitor to the taman who is also an environment management consultant.  In the course of our conversation he was keen to know why I considered this taman very special and unique.  The answer was simple - where can one find another park in a residential area that is located by a river, that has so many species of trees that can make the entire park a classroom, study in nature, and last but not least the fantastic layout and design of the taman that features different sizes of ponds, open spaces and shady ones too, that serve different needs.  And I had to add too the bird species, to date more than 80 in my personal record.
And the next day, I couldn't be proven more right, and happier than when I spotted a new bird species by the river, the Yellow Bittern.  Unfortunately very shy, vey sensitive, simply refused to come out in the open.
Nevertheless another new record for the taman.
