Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

How the Honey-buzzard has grown

There must be something in the taman for this Oriental Honey-buzzard to return again and again.  The latest bird sighted did look like the bird that I had seen twice already this year.
And this is what makes this taman special, an urban park that one can track the growth of a raptor, and have close-up sightings as a bonus.  This sighting would be very special and memorable if this raptor decides to return home finally next year when winter up north is over, home may be even as far as Siberia.  This suggests that it had remained in this warmer country since last year when it first came, and was too young and not yet strong enough then to fly home earlier this year, and had chosen this taman as its playground.
Raptors are known to fly twice a year, making the return migratory journey; they escape winter in their home country up north by flying away as early as September and returning home in about March the following year.

This one was sighted in June.

This one in August.

And finally this one is presently frequently seen in the taman.
