It was so lovely to see this family of four having a day out, a parent and three sub-adults, which suggested how successful the Bee-eaters have bred here.
Though these birds were pretty high up, my bird-watching instinct had to be put to gear, to try and guess what was going on. First, the parent was seen to bring an insect feed to its two young ones, how it decided which one to offer to was anyone's guess.
Then only did I notice this other young one by itself on another branch. It was eventually accompanied by the other siblings.
And then the parent returned with another feed but I was unsure whether it gave it to any eventually, perhaps it did not, as a parent bird is known to lure their young into hunting for themselves by enticing a prey in front of them.
The other two eventually flew off leaving the one alone again. Could this be a weak young as it hardly moved from its perch?
The parent eventually returned with a feed for this one, as if it wanted to feed it only when its other siblings were not around.
The pair finally flew off without the return of the other two.
