This is my first sighting of the Oriental Dollarbird this year. This bird could be a resident or could be a migrant but going by the time of the year, I guess it's a resident. Having said that, it's not a bird that's regularly seen but seems to appear in the taman at only certain times of the year.
I could only manage distant shots this time as it kept to the highest dead bare branch perch, its characteristic perch.
The challenge with this bird is to get it in flight, as it displays its slivery white circular patches on its underwings, for which it got its name as these patches are supposed to resemble the American silver dollar coins.
Sadly I've not been successful so far.
