Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Scarlet encounter

It's always this lightning appearance with the Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker.  Most of the time it appears suddenly and forages like in a frenzy and then it's gone.
This time a pair took me by surprise, stayed for a while to forage, unfortunately amidst the foliage, didn't get together to pose for me though!
I guess I had to be contented with the following shots, as I attempted to keep up with their speed.

The female revealed itself with its lower scarlet back compared to the male with its more striking one.

It had to be an immediate choice whether to pursue the male or the female.

It's always an interesting moment, to say the least, when this tiny bird had a mini discharge!

What's priceless about this bird is its scarlet back, what else!
