Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A morning harvest

With news that the Lineated Barbet can be sighted in the taman, some birder friends spent a couple of days waiting the entire morning for it, again it was a no show but that's birding life, every birder knows!  Nevertheless, at the last watch, it was hardly a wasted morning because they got to redo their shots of some of the more common birds and this taman is certainly an excellent place to do so because these birds could be rather confiding, perching close to them.  One can easily spot the Orioles, Magpie Robins, Bulbuls, Woodpeckers, etc so very easily.
The morning harvest included the following, which was not bad at all, not at all.

Crested Serpent-eagle

White-throated Kingfisher
Blue-throated Bee-eaters

Zebra Doves

Little Bronze Cuckoo

Crested Goshawk

Little or Striated Heron

Brown-throated Sunbird

Common Flameback Woodpecker
