Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Our star resident

It's always a delight to run into this star resident of the taman, the Oriental Pied Hornbill.  It is always THE bird for a lot of people to seek out but certainly not easy because its presence at the taman is not really predictable.
I was lucky this time as it was pre-occupied with exploring and preening, and I could get pretty close to it.  It is indeed a beauty with its so glossy black feathers.  As a bonus, it was stunning in its various poses.
