Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Down memory lane

Once upon a time a narrow metal walkway was built right to the middle of the largest pond in the taman.  Due to wear and tear, and neglect the walkway rusted and gradually posed a hazard to people who still tried to walk on it.
In November last year, the structure was dismantled and a few columns were left standing, and became favourite perching stands for the White-throated Kingfisher.  These stands were eventually removed.
Nevertheless whilst there the columns were reminiscent of abandoned columns of an old building, eye-catching and picturesque.
