Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

A newcomer

This morning was good as I was able to welcome a newcomer, the Lineated Barbet.  It was spotted a couple of weeks ago across the stream but to find that it had flown over to the taman proper is a good sign.  In fact, it looked like it was relaxing in the open but unfortunately flew off before a good snap could be taken of it.  Running after it and managing to track it was not good enough as it flew into denser foliage, would have been an excellent photo opportunity as it was seen preening then.
Ah well, with a fruiting tree in sight, perhaps a better opportunity  would arise next time.
