Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Bird perch

I always wonder why some birds, regardless of size, like to perch right at the tip of a bare branch, clinging on by their claws.  Some seem to do so to have that 'world-view', some simply look like that's the most comfortable position to be in.
Birds' legs and toes are covered with thick scaly skin, and consist of bones and tough tendons which give them that easy grip.

On the other hand, there are others that simply like to perch on open bare branches.  This seems to be an easy perch for them to return to when they are going after flying insects.  Or again, it looks like it's simply perch in between hunts.
