Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Barbets again

I really missed seeing the Lineated Barbets by their nest after having monitored their presence for a few months now.  Alerted, I simply had to track down the calls and was pleasantly surprised to find two together although it's difficult to tell whether these two were young birds, but I'm pretty sure one was.
Whatever, it was simply heartening to see these two surviving well, and the taman is simply lucky to have them around, even more so to host a nesting pair and subsequently a family.  Lineated Barbets were once sighted only in the northern region of the country and I believe this taman is one of the rare places in this part of the country to have the privilege of having these birds choose to nest here.

Of the two, only this one was doing all the calling, and seeking.

This one was just too happy to enjoy the morning breeze and preening.
