Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Seeking the Kingfisher

I wonder when I would be able to get up close and well, I guess personal (!) would be asking for too much, with this Common Kingfisher.  All I have managed so far was to watch it fly up and down the river, and perch in the distance.
This little fella has been around since the migratory period started but it looks like it's moving about quite a bit as it's not so frequently seen in the taman, I guess when only it suits it.  Nevertheless it does prove that there's enough in the taman to keep it coming back.
