Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Spiderhunter call

It kept calling and I kept looking, and just managed to locate it before it flew almost out of sight.  That was also the longest encounter I had with the Spectacled Spiderhunter in the bukit, and this may be a common bird but not regularly seen here though.
Despite its name that one would expect it to go for spiders, instead spiderhunters are more commonly seen going for nectar.  This is the largest spiderhunter of its species, and commonly found in Malaysia, in both montane and lowland forests.

Backlighting did not do justice to this beautiful bird and I had to be contented with only these images.
