Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Another gorgeous encounter

The Blue-throated Bee-eater is a beautiful bird and it's not easy to get it at close range.  It's always perched high up because it's obviously easier to catch its insect preys flying up above.  So when I got this by the pond in Bukit Kiara perched pretty low, I considered it an opportune moment.
The Bee-eater is a migrant bird but this one, with another about, has definitely decided to make the bukit home.  I believe we should be seeing more of these Bee-eaters which are passage migrants as they pass through the country in August.
