Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Lesson in the taman

The taman gives me ample opportunities to learn how to identify bird gender, adult and immature.  One can indeed do so in any taman but because of the types of trees here, one can spot quite quickly the bird and bird type.  It's also because it is relatively easy to know where the birds like to 'hang out', like this Brown-throated Sunbird.
