Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

First sighting

I saw this juvenile Blue-throated Bee-eater for the first time here this morning.  Unfortunately, it didn't stay long enough for me to shoot it in better light.  Could it be part of a migratory flock, or merely the product of resident parents?
Blue-throated Bee-eaters are normally sighted flying through this part of the country in August, or slightly earlier in late July to September, heading south.
