Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Stunning silhouette

The silhouette of the Greater Racket-tailed Drongo can be bewitching because of its two long outer tail feathers, each ending in feathery twist.
This bird gives out a loud metallic call and is known also to mimic perfectly other bird calls. I was indeed alerted to its presence in the open, practically above me, by its almost deafening call.
I was told that once upon a time there were more than a pair of these birds in the nearby Bukit Kiara.

And this is what the bird looks like, glossy dark blue that appears black from afar.
