Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Another visitor escaping winter

First it was the male Yellow-rumped Flycatcher which I spotted a couple of weeks ago, and now it was the female which seemed to be smaller than the male. We can see, as usual, that the male is more attractive than the female.
This bird can come from northern China, Korea or Siberia to escape the winter.  Measuring only about 13 cm, it's pretty difficult to spot it as it is always on the move, pretty much always confined to move in the middle canopy, and among thick foliage it is almost impossible to get a clear shot.

Male, seen a couple of weeks ago
