Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

An unusual visit from the Hornbill

It was rather unusual to see the Oriental Pied Hornbill at this fruit tree, certainly not her kind of fruits.  And true enough she did sniff around, found that the fruits were certainly not to her liking, flew off very soon after.  However, it was not before her presence caused some alarm to the smaller birds which were already here, going by the cries around.
I can only be grateful that once again, she gave me ample opportunities to admire her, from so many angles!
