Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

First sighting

This is my first sighting of the Brown Shrike, another one of the earliest visitors from the north to be here to escape winter there.  Its loud call alerted me to its presence but it only perched for a while before it flew off.
It is a common migrant so I hope to see more of it in time to come.  In fact I have been looking out for it since I sighted the Tiger Shrike.
