Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Albino raintree

It came as a great surprise, no, a shock, when I learnt that the taman has an albino raintree!  Unbelievable, that a tree can even be deemed an albino.
And to my naive mind, I have always thought that this tree was always growing new leaves compared to the other neighbouring raintrees.
According to an extract of The Star of 17 July 2017 which highlighted the taman, it is reported that ... the uncommon albino raintree is another attraction in Taman Rimba Kiara.
“Unlike the endangered trees, ... this is a native here.
“During the drier season, the yellow colour of the leaves becomes more distinct. Not all of these mutants can survive.
“If the albinism is high, the seedlings will eventually fall off as a result of not being able to photosynthesise due to lack of chlorophyll ....”
