Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Another tree down

It is sad to see another old tree uprooted during a storm.  It's certainly like losing an old friend as this tree, and others, have been in the taman since day one.  Indeed there are many such trees, and this also means that each time a tree fell, there is always a possibility that a nest, or more than one, too has fallen.
The saving grace is that this tree fell in the night and no one was around or hurt.
