Taman Rimba Kiara is a little green gem located in a corner of the TTDI residential area. The above flowering tree, the firmiana malayana or mata lembu, flashes in testimony to man's care-less-ness - it's one of only two trees in the park that had flowered, since then the tree had been chopped down.

Spiderhunter

It's another great feeling to be able to add a new find to the number of bird species found in the taman, and this Yellow-eared Spiderhunter brings the count to a personal one of over 65, including both resident as well as migrant birds.
Simply great for the taman!!  I think it does not matter if the bird is a migrant, staying temporary at the taman, or merely passing through.  It simply proves that this taman is indeed vital as a transit or resting stop for these birds.
With this Spiderhunter, I'm rather puzzled why we do not see more of it because the bird's common food is wild banana flower, and there is plenty in the taman.
